The whole midwifery department of Craigavon Hospital are amazing. I had my son at the end of August 2024 and throughout my entire pregnancy, I had a brilliant experience from all my antenatal appointments, antenatal zoom classes right through to delivery and post-natal care.
I had a forceps delivery and all of the doctors, midwives and midwifery care assistants provided so much support and care throughout the delivery. In particular, the midwives Chrissy, Alana and student midwife Rebecca made something which could’ve been so scary, a much more relaxed experience. Chrissy used some Hypnobirthing techniques which really helped my labour progress. Without Chrissy I don’t think my labour would have been as relaxed or progressed as quickly. All of the staff (doctors, midwives, sister and midwife assistants) were all brilliant during the delivery.
The post-natal care I received was second to none. As a new mum who wanted to breast feed, I received the best support from all the staff, and they really helped with my breastfeeding. We ended up staying in hospital 4 extra days as my little boy needed an antibiotic. Being new parents, this was quite overwhelming, but all of the staff really helped to alleviate our worry’s and concerns and were always willing to answer any questions.
Every member of staff we met was lovely, knowledgeable and kind. My partner and I couldn’t comprehend how hard working the staff were and long shifts they underwent, but yet they still had a smile on their face. They really couldn’t have been any kinder. There were so many lovely staff, there are too many to mention!
When we got home, we had 2 great community midwives, who again were so lovely and caring and helped to answer all of our first time parent questions and worries.
My whole pregnancy experience was brilliant, and I can’t thank the Craigavon Midwifery department enough.
Thank you to every single person we came across on our pregnancy journey, you made the birth of our son a wonderful start to our lives with him.
"my whole pregnancy experience was brilliant"
