My daughter has been suffering from abdominal pain and other symptoms for over a year now. Her symptoms have worsened recently. She has been to the GP countless times and recently A&E.
The GP has made a few referrals to paediatrics to ask if her scheduled appointment could be brought forward - to no avail. It seems perfectly acceptable for a teenage girl to be in pain every day, missing school, her mental health deteriorating and no-one thinks it's urgent enough to bring forward her routine appointment.
She has been to A&E twice, on her latest visit she wasn't even examined. She was told by the Dr that he deals with emergencies and she wasn't one.
How can this be allowed to continue? The Dr told us to go back to the GP. The GP tells us they can't do anything and she needs to be seen by paediatrics and they get back to the GP and say nothing has changed, we'll see her at her next appointment.
This is all going on in the background of the life of a teenage girl who is existing, not really living, in pain every day and mentally struggling because of the pain she is in.
