I was recently admitted to the ENT Ward of Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. I was placed in a side room that looked like it had been recently refurbished.
While the bedroom was great, the loo/shower room was a real challenge. There is absolutely no where to put the night clothes you take off, the new clothes to put on or even a towel. There isn't even a shelf or recess to put any shower gel.
The Nurses had to find me a plastic chair that I could take in to the loo/shower room put the towels on and then hang my clothes over the back. Then I had to try and balance the shower gel on the shower controls but they kept falling on the floor and spilling.
The little en suite rooms look very slick at first glance but are of little practical use and very difficult to use. They were clesely designed by someone to suit the needs of the available plumbing, rather than the needs of the patient, and added to the overall stress of being unwell and hospitalised.
This isn't my first hospitalisation and the important of feeling clean, fresh and wearing proper clothes after a decent wash cannot be overestimated.
