"My Health Visitor"

I had a lovely experience with my health visitor, Lisa. I had heard other people’s bad experiences with their health visitors and it made me really nervous to allow one into my life.

However, Lisa was always so supportive and positive and always had lots of time to sit with me and explain everything thoroughly. I always felt that she was there to answer any questions and encouraged me to send her any questions or concerns via her work phone in between our visits.

She would often give lovely words of encouragement when handling my baby saying things like your mummy did such a good job making you. On the days where I was feeling a bit overwhelmed this really meant the world to me and calmed me.

She also created an environment in which I could be open and honest about things I had decided to do, whether or not they fit with the official NHS guidance. If only all people in the health service could be as kind as she was!
