"Daughters Eye Surgery"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Day Case Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter recently attended RACH day case unit for bilateral eye surgery.

The nursing staff were welcoming and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Our daughter was especially delighted when she was told she could take a book from the play area home with her!

The Anaesthetist was very patient and made sure he spoke in a way our daughter would understand. The anaesthetic room was very relaxed, and as a parent I very much appreciated the jokes as she was being put to sleep. What should have been an anxious experience was actually very positive.

Mr Reddy has always been a pleasure to deal with and he made us feel like our daughter was in safe hands. We were anxious when he told us he had decided to operate on both eyes and not just one, but we need not have worried. Any surgery on a child is daunting, but the eyes just feel more precious and personal. Mr Reddy is a true professional who made our daughter laugh pre- operatively and that was very much appreciated. She has recovered well and we are all very happy with the results.

As a NHS staff member, I often read Care Opinion and couldn't let our positive experience pass without acknowledging all involved - thanks so much, you are all very greatly appreciated!
