"Procedure under general anaesthetic"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery Grantham & District Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I had clear instructions about where and when to arrive on the day. I was welcomed and felt cared for immediately. I was never left wondering what was happening or what I needed to do.

Every member of staff was kind and introduced themselves. They seemed to have plenty of time for me. The procedure was carefully explained and everything went according to plan.

I was looked after with kindness and reassurance in recovery and back on the ward. I particularly appreciated Roslyn, Karen and Jena who were looking after me and had time to chat which relaxed and reassured me.  I was offered food and drink when back on the ward which was very welcome as I hadn't eaten for many hours.

I think I was fortunate because there didn't seem to be many patients on the ward during the day I was there. Maybe on a busier day the staff wouldn't have had as much time to talk to me, but I think they would always be as caring, considerate and respectful. Thank you!
