"Sincere and heartfelt thanks"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Breast Care

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with breast cancer around a year ago. The day I was told this news I felt as if my whole world had fallen apart. There was no history of cancer on either side of my family so I was just in total shock. I remember I just couldn't stop crying and was so scared about what would happen next.

It is because of this that I just wanted to write in and express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the staff that I came into contact with throughout my cancer journey, and to mention a few by name.

On the first day that I was told I have to say that Yvonne, the breast care nurse, was so kind and although I was in a very distressed state, she was very understanding and calmed me down a bit. My consultant Mr Simpson was so nice and took the time to explain things to me, even though I spent most of the time crying. Even the staff that work in the radiography side of things (Gavin, Eddie and Clive) were all brilliant. I was very scared and emotional throughout all of my cancer journey but without the care and the understanding from these people that I have mentioned, I would not have been able to get through it, and I just want to say again how amazing they all are and to thank them so much for all that they did for me.

Thank you for your response to my story. I work in a customer service based job and so I know how much it means to have someone give you praise and appreciation. Once again, I have to say that without the care and understanding that was shown to me by the staff at the breast care unit in Antrim Hospital I would not have been able to get through it. During my visits to the hospital and also when I had to stay in due to a breast infection,I was able to show my appreciation by hugging everybody! I love to hug people and so I would like to send a virtual big hug to all the staff and thank you once again x
