"A fall with resulted in a fractured hip"

About: Intermediate and Transitional Care / Bed-based rehab (Chestnut and Landsdowne) Trauma & Orthopaedics / Ward 4D

(as a relative),

I took a fall at home and it resulted in a fractured hip, which I didn't find out about for 4 weeks after my fall, The pain got to unbearable and my family made me go to the emergency department. I was admitted and my health declined quite rapidly because of my surroundings, pain and lack of continuity, my family were very worried about me, so the lovely nurses at the hospital got me a bed in a rehabilitation place called Chestnut Grove, which was much nicer and I spent a few weeks there getting myself back on my feet with the aim of going home to my own home comforts.

The Team worked with me a lot, including the physios, they slowly got me up and about, I was able to do more and more things on my own which not only helped me physically but also with my mental health as I've always been a very independent person. My family were really happy with all the help and support I received and are now grateful to have me home and getting better everyday.

Dear Maybn23

I am glad to hear you are continuing to recover from your fall and have been able to get home. I would like to enquire as to whether you would be happy to share your details with me via email and let me know where & when you you were under the care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic service so I am able to investigate further the issues you had in relation to pain and continuity of care.

Please feel free to contact me at sarahe.wilson@belfasttrust.hscni.net

Kind Regards
