"I feel I am not currently receiving the appropriate care input"

About: Victoria Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I have been waiting 18 months for a follow up appointment with a consultant rheumatologist. At my last appointment the consultant  apologised because they would only be able to see me again in 6 months because of staff shortages. I have now been waiting for 18 months and remain on a waiting list.

I have a rare autoimmune condition that general practitioners do not understand when I have to consult them regarding symptoms because this requires specialist input. I have contacted the rheumatology nurse service and they have informed me they don't fully understand the condition either because it is rare.

The information I have gathered is that I should be seen regularly or referred to another specialist who can give me the care input. Their care input is on a regular basis with careful monitoring and I feel I am not currently receiving the appropriate care input.

What has happened to the rheumatology service in NHS Fife? I had originally been seen 3 to 4 monthly.
