"Unfriendly receptionist"

About: Eastleigh Health Centre

Whilst waiting for an appointment I saw an elderly lady with a walking stick come in. She told the receptionist that she had just been to Boots the chemist and they could not prescribe her eyedrops as they don’t stock them anymore and would need an alternative. They told her to go to the doctor to get the alternative prescription. The receptionist asked what do they want to change it to? The lady I have no idea. The reception said well you need to ask them, which chemist was it. She said Boots The receptionist then said I can’t call them as they never answer. You need to go back to the chemist find out what they recommend and come back and tell us so we can ask the doctor. The lady said “oh I can’t make it up there until Saturday so I’ll have to then walk back down here on Monday” . I found this unacceptable treatment of an elderly patient and I have no idea why the receptionist thought the doctor himself could not change the prescription. After all it was the doctor who prescribed it in the first place. This just caused unnecessary strain on the poor lady.

As I am not allowed to mention names I can tell you this happened around 13:45 yesterday 3rd October.
