Coming from my operation carried out by QEU, my recovery journey began with Lauren in Saltcoats Health centre, physiotherapy/MSK department.
It was great to see Lauren as she has helped me with previous injuries quite a few years back and with great success where my unstable shoulder was concerned, so seeing Lauren gave me great confidence in the treatment I was going to receive!
Day 1 I was in crutches, with a broken leg, I had a small fall resulting in a tibial plateau fracture with knee dislocation and serious ACL and PCL, with me also sporting an Ilizarov frame! This was the start of the way forward to learning how to walk and to start bending my knee again!
Ithink the first appointment was April, not long after having my top pins removed they stabilised my knee with a rod connecting to the pins to my frame. I had a bent of 1 maybe 2 degrees of a bend currently my best bend stands at 94 degrees, Lauren says this is down to my hard work but in all honesty it was her knowledge and expertise that led to me being able to do this hard work and moving forward with some amazing progress!
I now have the cage off (it come off 7 months earlier than it was proposed) and with Lauren's help I began walking correctly before the removal of the crutches 1 at a time! My specialist was extremely happy with my progress which I say is down to Lauren's hard work and knowledge, there wasn't just 1 exercise but 3 or 4 but it wasn't for all to be done at once it was to be done based on my level of ability at the time I would be doing my exercise, so if it was too sore to do this, do that or try this one! My muscles in my leg were solid as a rock making it difficult to move freely so there was some stretching and massage to loosen them up as well as the twisting and stretching of the ankle too as it was affected due to the ex-fix!
I always felt better after a session with Lauren and always, no matter how small the improvement I could feel the difference every visit. I looked forward to the visit as it was always an improvement, but also with an added improvement, after Lauren working her magic on me, beetering my bend by a further 5 degrees!
Looking forward to my next visit to see how much improvement I have.
Lauren has been great and deserves a medal, especially for working with me again for the 3rd time now.
Thank you Lauren!
