After contacting my GP regarding removing my contraceptive implant, and being advised that the waiting list for an appointment was quite long, it was suggested to contact the local sexual health services instead.
I was able to call and make an appointment at a choice of venues within my county, all offered within a week. I was even given a choice of time to fit in with my schedule.
The car park only takes coins, but I was easily able to find a space at 9am.
The welcome was warm and friendly, and the nurse who led my appointment was lovely. She introduced herself by name (Megan), answered all of my questions and was reassuring while allowing me to make my own decision. She distracted me from the procedure with good humour and small talk.
The whole process was as stress-free as possible, and I was given information to take home regarding alternative contraceptive methods. I can't fault a thing, and best of all I was in and out in less than 40 minutes.
