"IVF, Pregnancy Care and Giving Birth"

About: Community Maternity Care / Bellshill Community Maternity Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Assisted Conception Services University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

I would like to thank the incredible midwives at Wishaw General for the incredible care and support myself and my partner received during the birth of our daughter. In particular we would love to thank our midwife Jane and trainee midwife Dawn.

Jane put me at ease from the first second I met her. She showed us amazing love and care and I felt so much trust in her that we were in the very best hands on what was the best day of our lives.

We had a planned section as our baby girl was breach. I had opted for a planned section but baby cemented this choice by being breach. Jane prepared me for my section in a way that I can never ever repay her. She absolutely went over and above by giving us all the information we needed as well as holding me close on the way to theatre. Her words of encouragement and sheer love and care will never be forgotten.

On the day our daughter was born it was a busy shift for all of the midwives but yet we never went a second without feeling like we were not both being looked after and in constant care.

Dawn was amazing too, she had a wonderful bedside manner, making us feel completely at ease and showing amazing care as well as giving us a wee laugh, again putting us at ease.

The midwives truly are angels put on to earth and their knowledge, care and support are unmatched.

The theatre staff were all so professional and caring too. I felt so calm and in control during what was a major operation and a daunting process. I'm sorry to say I don't remember their names but each and every one of the staff introduced themselves and were all outstanding in their care.

I've had the most wonderful experience during my pregnancy and birth with an outstanding midwife - Sara. I was so so lucky to have so much care and support throughout my pregnancy from Sara. She was always on hand to give the best advice to make our journey as beautiful as possible.

Sara is truly an asset to the NHS, as is Jane, dawn and all of the staff we encountered.

I had a truly emotional, and wonderful consultation with Nicky, an obstetrician at Bellshill Clinic who showed me so much care and support at a time when I was struggling with a decision on whether or not to opt for a planned section as I was deemed high risk due to my age (40) and going through IVF.

My gut instinct was that a section would be my safest option for my baby and Nicky took the time to explain all of my options and reassured me in a way she would not understand.

Also the biggest thanks to the incredible nurses and lab staff that took us through our IVF journey at Glasgow Royal Infirmary who have given us the most precious of gifts.

Our daughter truly is the best thing that's ever happened to myself and my partner and it was all made possible by these incredible, incredible NHS angels.

Thank you will never be enough to say, I have literally became the person I was always meant to be....a very proud and grateful mother, all because of our outstanding NHS. As I say, thank you doesn't cut it, all I can say is that I will always be forever grateful and really really hope this can feedback can be passed on.

Everyone we came in contact with are more than NHS workers, they put their heart and soul into giving care, love, support and expertise into their work and should be celebrated every day.

A million thank you's to all of your wonderful staff, your all super stars and an absolute credit to your vocation.

All our love.
