First of all I’d like to say I found Carla’s visit really, really helpful and it answered a lot of questions. I have been upgrading the house myself, by buying lavatory seats and raising them. And I have bought a very lovely chair. Carla, though, is going to help me with getting into the bath, because I couldn’t get out of it recently and she is going to bring a bath seat-which is excellent. Carla has also arranged for a district nurse to come deal with an infected toenail and bedsores.
I have absolutely nothing to fault her at all. I am concerned about my T4 vertebra, which is compressed and fractured and it is very difficult to deal with. I have many drugs to take the pain away but they cause constipation and vagueness. What I am concerned about is that I have needed this visit a week and half ago, when I was diagnosed, not now. I have medical background so I know what to do-but you do feel lost because there’s no one to come in and help immediately. I imagine many people in this situation wouldn’t know what to do and are far worse off than me because I have a wonderful husband who has been doing everything for me. I understand it is because they have such a long waiting list of people.
