"I genuinely can't thank everybody enough"

About: Yeovil District Hospital / Hospital Maternity Care

(as a service user),

We had a fairly easy early labour with pool used before pushing stage.

Induction was discussed as I tested positive for GBS but wasn't needed. I was well informed at every stage what checks were being made and why. After 3 hours of pushing I felt we were not progressing and the pain was too much. I discussed with the midwife and we asked to see a consultant who discussed options and we agreed to forceps delivery in theatre which would include an episiotomy.

I felt that I was well listened to throughout and although labour was not ideal I felt happy with decisions  made by myself and the team and was particularly happy with how much everything was explained to me. We stayed in the hospital for 2 nights following delivery and my partner was able to stay too which was a great support and although recovery has been hard I am happy with all checks performed on the ward and all of the things that needed doing following delivery.

Care from the midwifery team has been excellent throughout I feel especially supported with a difficult early breastfeeding journey and I've noticed significant improvements in our stay. I genuinely can't thank everybody enough for the care and support throughout my stay and making an experience that I did not expect to be as hard much easier for us all as a new family.
