I recently had to attend the RAH Paisley A&E and had nothing short of a great experience, which is a strange thing to say having had to visit a hospital I know….
From the receptionist who checked me in, the many nurses I met and the Dr I saw, everyone was warm and friendly.
I didn’t get the name of the lovely receptionist, or kind triage nurse but they were absolutely brilliant!
Nurse Charity - Thank you! you put me at ease, got that bladder scanner working and made me so comfortable. Your smile literally lights up the room and you made me feel instantly calm.
Nurse Laura - Thank you! You were so quick and kept me feeling safe and out of pain while doing the procedure. You reassured me the whole time.
Dr Blues - Thank you! Thank you for your understanding and for taking the time to be so thorough and for making sure everything was okay before I left. Thank you too for speaking to me on a level that not all Drs do.
Anyone who has the misfortune to know about catheters and retention knows how daunting it can be to have to go to A&E and have to sit in pain and feel like it’s not always the right place for you but every single person I met assured me I was in the right place, that I’d done the right thing and that I wasn’t the burden I was apologising that I was.
The department was really busy, there were patients everywhere but I saw staff working nonstop. When they said they'll be back in a minute they came back, I was offered a drink/food (never happened to me in A&E before), it was very kind of her to ask and appreciated, I was fine because I had someone with me but not everyone is that lucky.
I understand waiting times are long and when you’re in pain it feels like a lifetime and I know the services are massively overstretched, but I also know the staff are trying their best and working extremely hard and I couldn’t let the visit go unnoticed and thanked. I’m very grateful for the care, discretion, kindness and humility I was shown and to every member of staff that keeps the dept going - Thank you X
"Brilliant staff in A&E 👏 x"
