I recently attended an appointment at the respiratory clinic, the Lead Clinician I saw was Dr Whitehead. Entering his clinic venue, I was distressed, anxious and angry, the cause being the fact that I had to drive continually round the car park because of inadequate parking. 45 minutes this went on for, and being disabled, and in the state I was did not endear me to the hospital or attending any clinic.
First Dr Whitehead. I expressed how I felt, my heart rate was tachycardic and I was suffering palpitations, Pulse 120 bpm, blood pressure high, chest feeling sore. This was the reason I was admitted to the hospital, and a previous attendance referred by my GP. He was very understanding and asked how general I knew I was in a chest infection needing in possession rescue medication. 8 respiratory infections in this year. Dr Whitehead went on to explain that my present X-Ray was quite normal - the two previous X Rays showed enlarged heart and lots of infection.
Dr Whitehead spent time reassuring me and explaining everything about my respiratory system.
He would also write to Professor Bethune at Derriford Hospital who looked after my immune state and the fact that I have an immune disease - MGUS IgG Kappa - it’s a pity that all my appointments in the past 4 years have not include Professor Bethune and Dr Leeman, also a consultant at the Eden Unit, Immunological at Derriford Hospital.
This was eventually a really informative appointment once I started feeling better. Dr Whitehead also agreed to see me again and this was important because I feel my respiratory state should have been reviewed without prompt much earlier in the year.
"A really informative appointment"
