I was advised to attend the ‘Finding Me Group’ from the perinatal team following the birth of my son.
I was really apprehensive about attending this 8 week group due to lack of confidence and being able to cope.
I have just finished the 8 week group and I have come out a completely different person. I feel more like myself since before pregnancy.
The group made me evaluate my day to day routines, work on relationships at home and build my confidence with my son and myself.
Emma (OT) was fantastic. She created a relaxed, safe and welcoming environment and built a real positive relationship with all the woman in the group. She gave us all a folder which we were able to add resources to that we discussed throughout the 8 weeks, we now have this at home to use when we need it. Emma gave us personalised advice and was able to help us evaluate our home life and self care. This really helped myself and my husband be more organised, prioritise our values and take care of ourselves and our boy through trying to navigate parenthood. We are finding things easier to manage now.
Sandra and Louise (nursery nurses) were so helpful and wonderful with our babies. They taught me many skills and activities like baby sensory and messy play, which I will now do with my son and the also introduced me to Book Bug. Having them both there allowed us time to work with Emma and I really appreciated that time.
I am now in a group chat with other members of the Finding Me Group and have made friends, we go to Book Bug sessions together and meet for coffee each week. This has allowed me to open up and share experiences which I felt isolated with before.
I am so grateful for this group and the staff, I am managing my new life so much better and feel like I have found myself. I will never forget the impact the perinatal team have had on my life.
Thank you.
