I have been having tests and injections for Wet AMD for three years. I was due to be assessed in Jan 2024 but had no contact then or in the months following. I finally rang in July 2024 to see if I had missed an appointment letter but no, the clinic was just busy. I was also told that no appointments were available until September, with one then appearing for a date towards the end of that month. On being assessed I was disappointed to hear that I needed more injections and a bit worried about the possible effect of the delay.
I knew that injections were now separate from the assessments and made an appointment accordingly. When I arrived, however, I was surprised to find the waiting room full, with someone commenting it was the worst they'd ever seen. The result was a wait of over an hour before being treated. There was no explanation for the delay. It is good to see text reminders sent out about appointments so perhaps this could be used to warn of problems? Overall, it feels as if the service has deteriorated significantly in the time I have been involved and hope this is a temporary issue.
