"Neurodevelopmental Assessment"

My son has recently completed neurodevelopmental assessment. The service was incredible. Very thorough and patient centred. The resultant understanding and formulation was detailed and complex, and will help all of us involved in my child's care understand his needs and challenges better. They are also incredibly strength focussed which can be a challenge when there is so much need evident, but I found them to have a great balance. I am so appreciative of the expertise and time taken to fully understand my wee boy. It has made me hopeful for the first time in a long time that provision and plans can be made to improve his quality of life.

Whilst there is no denying that waiting times are long and problematic, and the absence of a post diagnostic service is a gap, having a robust assessment and diagnostic service will hopefully support the identification of areas of need that the health service can build on developing in the future.
