"They looked after my mum as if she were their own"

Over the summer my mum had a stroke completely out the blue, she was healthy , happy & very independent!

First 2 weeks mum was really unwell, we were completely lost and most of the time scared we where going to loss her. But the team in ward 6 were outstanding! They looked after my mum if she were their own mum and they gave us all the time we needed to ask questions and be with her any time of the day.

Every member of staff that we came in contact with on the 11 week journey where fabulous , caring , funny & loving towards our full family. My mum loved all the young kids as she called them, finding out the nursing journeys and if they were studying etc, it kept her engaged. All the stories of their lives & their families on the outside world, it was beautiful to watch how they cared for her. Big shout out to all nursing staff ( the kids ) , OT, Physio , dietician , speech & therapy & kitchen, they made the most horrible thing that could ever happen if life bearable.

Thank you from Mum and all the family! The NHS is not broken, it’s an outstanding machine and ward 6 is a fine example of how things get done every time !
