"Parking issues and staff cars blocking pavement"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as a carer),

My husband had an appointment with the heart specialist nurse, he is on home oxygen, has advanced heart failure and is a wheelchair user. On trying to access the clinic the cars were double parked, two of them totally blocking the pavement, and another also parked in the disabled bay, I had to go on to the road to access the clinic, almost tipping my husband out the chair, then try to get back on to the pavement, which was not an easy task! I spoke to the receptionist who said it is a big problem and a daily occurrence! I then found out that it was staff cars that were parked across the pavement! And in the disabled bay! I can understand that it is very difficult for the staff to find parking but to park in the disabled bay and across the pavement totally blocking it is unacceptable!

Dear Zena13

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us via Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you have faced with car parking whilst attending a heart specialist nurse appointment with your husband.

Unfortunately, from your post I am not quite clear as to the location of where the incident took place. I am responding on behalf of Primary Care Services. If the difficulties you have faced with car parking were at your GP Practice, I can liaise with them to make them aware of your comments and feedback.

If this is the case, please can you send an email to HSCPAdmin@east-ayrshire.gov.uk (marked for the attention of Primary Care) providing your details and the name of the GP Practice you are registered with. If you wish to remain anonymous, we can feed back your comments to the GP Practice for their awareness and learning.

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience. I am very sorry it was not positive on this occasion.

Kind regards

Danielle
