I've just completed an online six-week NHS Highland Community Food and Health Group - everyone in the group was recently diagnosed as either pre-diabetic or diabetic.
Heather, who led the course, works in the Type 2 Food and Health Service. It was a group session which I was nervous about but it was a small group, Heather put you at ease and after a while everyone did start contributing to the discussion.
Each week focussed on a different topic - activity, stress, food, self care etc. Some of it I already knew but it was good to have it talked through with helpful descriptions or visual aids that helped your understanding. Further reading / learning was also shared with the group by email
This is a relatively new course and I was apprehensive but it was good to know that every Tuesday those of us there were committed to improving our health. There was no judgement. It was about doing what you needed to do, one step at a time to improve you.
It felt sad to know last night was the last one.
