"I felt uplifted, positive and confident"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran Mental Health and Addiction Services / South Ayrshire Community Mental Health Team

(as the patient),

My GP practice offered me a telephone appointment with a Mental Health Practitioner.

The appointment was scheduled within a week with Lorraine. I explained to Lorraine that I was struggling to cope with caring for my elderly parents. I felt that Lorraine really understood what I was going through. She gave me time to talk and then offered me solutions to my problems and a referral to another organisation to help me further in the future.

After talking with Lorraine I felt uplifted, positive and confident that I could talk to her again, at any time, if needed. I'm a person that thought I would never need to speak to someone about Mental Health but having had a chat with Lorraine has made me realise that Mental problems come in all different forms and can affect all types of people.

This service from caring Practioners is a godsend and I will definitely be encouraging friends and family to reach out rather than keeping everything bottled up.... like I did! Thank you Lorraine 😊
