"The very best in patient-centred care"

I am immune compromised and under the care of the Immunology Department at the RVH. I found the events of the pandemic very challenging and so was very anxious when my husband recently contracted Covid. I was due to have a Covid vaccine the following day so didn’t know what to do. I searched for information online before contacting my local GP surgery. Unfortunately we no longer have a GP but a doctor covering that day did ring back. The doctor explained that they couldn’t answer my questions but suggested I contact my consultant. I really miss having the support of a regular GP! 

I hate taking up the time of the Immunology department as I have experienced their demanding clinics and the pressure they work under. They have very challenging workloads. I previously needed to contact them  and I can honestly say that the care and support provided is exceptional.

On this occasion I rang the hospital and spoke with Angela . She has been a senior member of the administration team for a long time. I have spoken with her on quite a few occasions and I can truly say that she is excellent at her job. She listened to my issues and said that she would relay my questions. She assured me that an appropriate member of staff would ring me back. I was immediately reassured as I was confident that Angela would pass on my concerns.

The department has always got back to me as quickly as they possibly can. There is obviously a very effective and supportive relationship between all members of the Immunology team . I assume that Dr Devlin is still leading the medical team. I received a phone call a short time later from a doctor in the department. I had asked her for a reminder of her name at the end of the call but the line cut out. I would like to thank her for her patience and care as she answered my queries. The information was very helpful and I felt that I had my queries answered with empathy.
