I came to Cloughreagh from hospital 7 months ago not feeling very well. I was apprehensive about coming, I didn’t know what to expect. After a few days I realised Cloughreagh was very good, something different, the care staff, the kitchen staff and the company of the other residents all knitted together to make this a very happy experience.
I have been waiting on a Package Of Care to go home and I am now delighted to be getting home. It was my daughter who finally sorted the POC out and I’m leaving Cloughreagh. She went directly to the Care Provider and they accepted me.
I have really valued the friendships here, I met a lot of people, enjoyed their company as – we had a lot of things in common. I can’t praise the staff enough, the kitchen staff were absolutely brilliant. If I changed my mind about the menu that was no problem, they were able to facilitate me.
It’s amazing how much fun you can have in Cloughreagh doing very little. One gentleman who was here was a real inspiration to me and encouraged me to go for short walks in the grounds and that boosted my confidence in my ability to walk a bit further. I cannot say how much I appreciated the companionship of the others here.
We had a great day in Cloughreagh when Sam Maguire came to visit us and we had photo opportunities with the Cup. I know I am a Down man but it was a great opportunity to see the Cup and it gave a lot of pleasure. A big thank you to the staff member who organised it.
I will miss Cloughreagh, I was treated like royalty and if in the future I need help I would be very happy to come back. My experience here will remain in my memory for a long time.
