"The two appointments were night and day"

About: Victoria Hospital / Emergency Care Ambulatory Service (ECAS)

(as a service user),

I had two visits to the ECAS department. The first was for an iron infusion, second for a blood transfusion.

The first appointment was a disaster.  Two nurses and a doctor couldn't find a vein in my arms even though I told them when to look and they used the vein finder.  It took nearly ten days for my bruises to heal and I never got my infusion.

The second appointment for the transfusion went without a hitch. The whole day from 9-3 was amazing. We were made cups of tea, offered lunch and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

The two appointments were night and day and difference was that it was completely different staff on each shift.

First appointment - I wouldn't advise anybody to use the service.

Second appointment - amazing experience and couldn't fault the staff in any way.
