I am nearly 70yrs of age, and through my life I have never had much call for hospital care, however earlier this year (2024), I was called by my GP at Lochmaben health care centre, for 5yr health check. A blood sample was taken and it came back that I had Iron Deficiency Anaemia. To cut a long story short, my GP wanted me to have an upper & lower endoscopy. Following a consultation at the appropriate hospital department, an appointment was made for me to attend the short stay department at Dumfries Royal Infirmary.
Never having much to do with hospitals, I was little apprehensive of what to expect, but needn’t have worried. I arrived and within 5 minutes was collected by a nurse, and taken through. The nursing staff were superb, very reassuring, and courteous, the Dr’s were the same. The procedure went off without any problems.
These Nurses, Doctors and support staff deserve every penny that get, we are so lucky in Dumfries to such a first rate hospital like The Royal Infirmary.
And if the NHS is broken, then I wouldn’t mind paying a little more tax to put it right.
To all the staff that dealt with me, thank you for a first class service.
