"Waiting times"

I am sorry to hear that you required to attend the Emergency Department here at University Hospital Wishaw and unfortunately our patients are having to wait longer to be seen due to the high volumes of patients accessing our Emergency services. All patients are seen within clinical priority and the waiting time can be impacted by emergency arrivals to the hospital who require lifesaving treatment. All patients are advised to have only 1 person with them within the department, however this can be difficult to manage at times. We do have an announcement system which asks people not to sit in small crowds as well as ensure that seats are given priority to patients, however again we are at the mercy of our patients and relatives to abide with this instruction. Regular in- person announcements and made in the Emergency Department waiting room at times of high volume and high acuity within the department.

We take all concerns from our patients very seriously and we are working on a range of improvements to reduce waits within the Emergency Department and will continue to progress with these initiatives.
