(as a service user),

As someone who is currently incapacitated and housebound, having just recovered from pneumonia, having asthma and bronchitis, a flu jag is vital to my wellbeing. The NHS Highland vaccination service refuses to do home visits for people like me because I am only temporarily incapacitated. I am in a full leg brace, unable to walk, no friends no family, yet I am expected to travel the 27 miles to have a flu jag. In my view, this is a disgrace. In the past the district nurse or even the GP would give me my jag.

Good Morning, I am sorry to hear that you have encountered these issues and I have discussed with the service team who also want to see how they can support you, it is not uncommon for us to provide home visits to individuals even if they are temporarily housebound.

For us to support your can I ask you to please contact the NHS Highland Feedback Service, if you have not already done so, and they will be able to provide you contact details to us we can then call you to discuss the situation and see how we can support you with your vaccination.

Thank you. I phoned and got a complicated message about email and website that I couldn’t follow. I left my details. The central service refused me a home visit so they need to be advised that it is a possibility.
