"Waiting times getting longer and longer"

About: WestMARC (Glasgow)

(as a service user),

I recently visited WestMARC to be cast for a new socket as I'm having issues with the current one.

As always, Vincent was wonderful, as was Lynn. The staff at the unit as a whole are great, friendly, kind and helpful.

What was disappointing is that my new socket won't be ready until the end of January. I've been a patient at WestMARC for over 20 years and this is the longest I've ever had to wait.

When I first visited, the clinics and workshops were housed in temporary portacabin type buildings. It seems such a great pity that it's now in a purpose-built building with all the facilities available yet the waiting times are getting longer and longer

Dear woodpigeonwn66, I am sorry to hear of you difficulties with the length of wait for your new socket.

As Care Opinion is anonymous, I am unable to check you patient notes. I would be grateful if you could contact Laura Brady, Lead Prosthetists who manages Lynne and Vinnie, via WestMARC contact Centre on 03007900129. Laura will be able to shed some light on the lenght of delay you have been given as the prosthetics service is made up of clinicians and technician who manufacture the sockets.

Thank you for taking the time to post and hopefully a resolution suitable to yourself can be sought.

Regards

Angela
