"Seeing the whole person rather than just the symptoms"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Primary Care Out of Hours

(as the patient),

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the care the ANP @ OOH provided during my recent appointment. I presented with abdominal pain radiating into my back and shoulder, I may have appeared to be doing well, but you saw through that and recognized that I wasn’t being completely honest about the severity of my pain.

Your ability to study my body language and pick up on what I wasn’t saying, paired with your thorough and holistic assessment, made all the difference. Your decision to refer me to University Hospital Wishaw was undoubtedly the turning point in my care, and I truly believe that if it weren’t for your keen observation and expertise, I might not be here today.

Thank you for going above and beyond in your role, for truly listening, and for seeing the whole person rather than just the symptoms. Your professionalism, compassion and skill left a profound impact on me, and I will always be grateful.

Good afternoon elephantdq85

Thank you so much for sharing about your positive experience when you had to attend the Primary Care Out of Hours centre, Hamilton.

I will pass on these lovely comments to the ANPs in the team and they will be delighted that the care and attention they gave to you was so gratefully appreciated.

I hope you are recovering well now and thank you again for commenting on Care Opinion. It is lovely to hear that the PCOOH service is delivering excellent patient centred care.

Kind regards, Pamela.
