"An example of our NHS at its absolute best"

About: Anderson House / Dermatology

(as a service user),

I recently went to the GP regarding a non healing lesion on my face that had been there for a while. The GP took photos and sent them to dermatology. A week later I received a letter with a dermatology appointment  for Anderson House.

When I arrived at Anderson House for my appointment the atmosphere felt calm and unhurried. Both of the staff on Reception were pleasant and welcoming. The Waiting Area felt pleasantly quiet and spacious.

I was seen first by the Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, Shauna. She was absolutely lovely and she very quickly put me at ease. I was then seen by the consultant who diagnosed the lesion as BCC and arranged for it to be removed that same day.

Shauna then took me back into her clinic room to speak to me, answer my questions and to make sure that I was coping okay with what I had been  told. She gave me a card with her contact details and assured me that I could contact her at any time if I had any worries or concerns before my scheduled four month review,

After a relatively short sit back in the waiting area I was called in to have the lesion removed. The two specialist nurses introduced themselves and were really lovely, again I was quickly put at ease, I think their names were Amy & Alanna. They explained everything that they were doing/going to do and they also ensured that I was coping okay with what was happening.

I was in Anderson House for approximately 2hrs, met very professional and empathetic staff, was diagnosed and treated and on my way again. This to me is an example of our NHS at its absolute best. Thank you for this excellent service.
