"Appointments and care"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I had an appmnt at the Eye unit for nine o'clock. I still have the proof of the appmnt.

I was unwell after a bad cab ride from Old Harlow, and booked in to be told the Eye Unit opens at Ten on a Friday, and after waiting, still feeling unwell, was told the clinic was running two hours late.

Still feeling unwell I left the reception are and sat on the stairs being unwell into a plastic bag. Not one member of staff asked if i needed help, several staff just walked up the stairs as if i wasn't there.

I called a close friend,  I needed to leave without my appmnt being done because of feeling unwell, and couldn't face another appalling cab  a cab ride home.

What a complete appalling service in my opinion, totally disgusted with the appmnts not being right and uncaring staff. Shamefull and disgracefull.

Dear Patient,

Please can you provide your details so we can investigate further, what you have described is not acceptable and I am sorry.

Please do get in touch directly by emailing us at paht.pals@nhs.net.

Update posted by andromedaws34 (the patient)

good morning,

Thank you for your reply to my email.

Unfortunately I have been extremely unwell since November, and exact dates escape me, and was very unwell in attending the appointment, but felt I had to as I had had no visit to a consultant for nearly two years due to the department cancelling earlier appointment's. The details in my email obviously explain my reason for contacting you.

The wrong information and or no information concerning clinic opening hours was deplorable, but to be told in my appointment letter to attend for nine when clinic opens at ten on Fridays is farcical. I understand the clinic can run late, but two hours, when feeling extremely unwell was unacceptable to me, feeling as unwell as I did

As stated in my email the disinterest of staff while I was being unwell on the stairs into a plastic bag is unforgivable, considering patient care is supposed to be a priority. Some very serious revision of information needs attention.

My regret is that I cannot give you the exact dates, but if I could I certainly would.
