I was admitted to RCH Treliske in February of this year with suspected appendicitis. It was actually a perforated bowel, peritonitis and sepsis, which resulted in having an open Hartmann’s procedure. I received amazing care from all of the teams involved in both of my surgeries and 3-week hospital stay.
Follow-up appointments have been informative and positive. My recent colonoscopy was a breeze (ish), thanks to the fantastic team in the Endoscopy unit. Now it’s all systems go for a colostomy reversal. In all of the time since February, I have always felt supported by the staff involved in my aftercare, particularly the Stoma Team who do a sterling job of helping us ostomates get to grips with life with an ostomy. A massive thank you to everyone at Treliske, as, if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here now.
