"They need to radically improve their communication skills"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Podiatry Services

(as a service user),

I requested a consultation with Orthotics by self-referral. I received a telephone appointment with Podiatry, whom I had already seen, and who had been unable to provide the excellent service that they had given in the past.

Today, the person phoned me, failed to identify themselves. Eventually they admitted to a first name. I went through the story again. They knew all about it. They said that they don't have time to provide the previous service, a view that I did not request.

They said they would refer me to Orthotics and ended the call abruptly. They need to radically improve their communication skills, not to say ordinary, everyday politeness and empathy.

Dear Washbucket

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and sharing your experience. I was sorry to learn about your recent experience when contacting Podiatry Services and please accept my apologies for the upset and distress this caused.

Your feedback has been shared with the Senior Team responsible for Podiatry Services for discussion with the staff to avoid this happening again.

If you would like to discuss this further, can you please contact my colleague, Pauline McQuade, Podiatry Manager on 07818003055 or by email - pauline.mcquade@nhs.scot

Kind Regards

Nicole
