"Pleasantly surprised"

About: Beacon Medical Group

Thankfully, I have little cause to "bother the doctor" very often. Recently I had a reoccurrence of anxiety, persistent tiredness and low mood (probably due to work burn-out). I recognised the signs and sought help via e-consult. If I had one criticism, it would be the time length from submission to phone call (14 days), however, I appreciate that my condition is not life threatening and I have sought help before, so I know I'm not a priority case. When I got to speak with the GP, I found him to be upbeat, a good listener, sympathetic (to my decision to avoid meds if possible for one thing) and he must've read my notes (I have a history) as he had no hesitation in signing me off work, with an additional instruction to ask for a fit note extension if needed without further consultation; he understood full well that anxiety/depression are not fixed overnight. I have self referred for CBT(as recommended), which I've had in the past, but am still waiting for an initial assessment (so will need an extension on the fit note). The GP also requested a blood test. I found the booking experience for that and surgery experience to be efficient and friendly (strange to see an empty surgery!) and thankfully I have discovered that my test result is normal, just two days after the test. So, all things considered, a positive experience. Hopefully I'll be able to start the CBT soon (probably not until after Christmas!), but meanwhile, the "prescription" of time off work is helping and was clearly much needed. Thank you to all who I encountered.
