"Supportive, understanding and compassionate"

About: Derriford Hospital / Neurosurgery Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Oncology

(as a relative),

My dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was referred to Derriford to see the specialist consultant.

From start to finish from his diagnosis to actually have the tumour removed at Derifford Hospital and now being seen by oncology at Treliske, my dad as the patient and our family could not fault the care he has received.

Everyone from receptionists to the surgeon and everyone in between was nothing but supportive, understanding and compassionate at such an upsetting and hard time for our family.

We were constantly updated on what was going to happen and what the next stages were. As a family waiting for someone who is in surgery is a scary experience and especially such a major surgery, but everyone was constantly updating us with any news and letting us know how he was getting on.

You’re are all truly amazing at your jobs and deserve more recognition for what you do on a daily basis.

Thank you for treating our family with such care and compassion

Thank you so much for the very kind words that have been shared with our staff in Neurosurgery – this means a lot to everyone that the care and communication was of a very high standard.

Our continued best wishes to you all and hoping that Dad continues to make a speedy recovery.

With best wishes

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your message. I am sorry for the delay in response. My name is Zoe and I am writing to you on behalf of the patient experience team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

I am so sorry to read of your fathers diagnosis. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for your father and loved ones.

I am really pleased to read that you had so much support from the staff who were able to keep you informed with your fathers diagnosis and treatment. Whilst this is a scary time for you all, I am glad to read that the team were supportive, compassionate, understanding and treated your family with care.

I will ensure your comments are passed on to the relevant team for review.

Wishing you and all your family the best.

Zoe - Patient experience and engagement administrator
