About: Children, Young People and Families and Specialist Primary Care / Umbrella Pathway

(as a parent/guardian),

Well, I'm a father of a lovely little boy, and he's been in the UPA, and I knew nothing about it until I got his final summary report. The best thing about a story is that it normally has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but I only get to see the end.

One of the many joys of being a father from a relationship that didn't work out you don't get a single phone call or an email or a letter to tell you what is going on with your child, but they could have done it because they had the information to contact me with the final report. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you have done a fantastic job with my son, but it would have been nice to have some input on this kind of thing.

Try not to forget kids have moms and dads, not just moms, and everyone should be involved in something like this.

I am very sorry to hear that on this occasion the Umbrella Pathway service fell short of your expectations for good practice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. It is very helpful to the service to hear the views of the families that we work with, so that we can make continuous improvements. From your feedback, we will explore how we can better communicate with a second parent where parents live separately.

If you would like any further specific information about what happened during your child's assessment then you are welcome to contact the service directly to discuss this.
