I have had crohns colitis since 2002 and have been under the care of the Western for the last 16 years.
I have nothing but praise for the whole team and have felt heard, cared for, supported throughout.
The stand outs are IBD nurses whose friendly, accessible support line is invaluable and they never make you feel like a question is silly and they follow through, check with consultants and advise appropriately.
Most recently getting me into SAU for tests then into a ward within an afternoon!!!!!! A service that I know does not exist nationally.
Next, Prof Lees and his team who have explored different treatments and always been mindful of trying to help me keep the balance between well and not and being able to travel, work and enjoy family life.
Thirdly, the day ward 75? where the team administer a plethora of infusions to a multitude of patients but always fit you in and the banter is second to none.
Lastly but by no means least the nurses on ward 57 who have looked after me during my current admission. They have been AMAZING not just in their specialised skills but in their ability to make me feel at ease, to chat, laugh and they have brought the biggest smiles to my son in their Elfie antics. Shout out to Abbie, Gemma and Michelle.
"I have nothing but praise for the whole team"
