"All the staff that checked us over were amazing"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was lucky enough to of had 2 of my 3 babies in Peterhead.

The care my family and i received from all the staff was above and beyond.

I had a few worrying times in my pregnancy with my baby being breech until the end and so had alot of fear that i could of ended up with a csection and that was something my midwife new was always on my mind and i was quite a worrier so wasnt constantly asking her to check my bump (closer to the end) to see if i had managed to turn baby!

When i was in labour i was allowed up for checks even if there wasnt much progression in my labour and the midwives were always at the end of the phone giving me new plans and advising me on what was best to do while labouring at home.

When i was on my way in for my check, i was over my 4cm so got to stay and labour there for the rest of the time and the birthing pool was already waiting for us going into the birthing room and the staff on were just first class.

I had a student mw who got called in and she was there for most of the time i was in labour and she was doing my checks for babies heartbeat and was keeping me at ease as well. (Was lovely to see how involved she wanted to be)

Postnatal, i was able to attend the unit for mine and baby checks as they were quiet busy (but i didnt mind this because i was able to go in for a certain time and not be waiting at home for them to come when they could manage)

All the staff that checked us over were amazing. They helped me with advice on feeding myself and weighed my daughter as i was a bit worried she wasnt putting weight on. They helped with changing her when she had an explosion and i was overwhelmed.

They were all just amazing and for both births in the peterhead unit i was so lucky to have my midwife there while birthing. I feel extremely lucky with this as when your seeing them for antenatal checks over the 9 months being pregnant (and with my daughter being our third and last) over the 3 ish years you really become friendly with your midwife and so to have her there from beginning to end its just so special.

Hi Nicoles529,

Wow, what can I say? Thank you so much for leaving this lovely review. It gives a great insight into your experience of Continuity of Care, which is something we know the benefits of and try and achieve as much as possible. I'm sure it was just as special for your midwife to be there along your entire pregnancy journey and then when baby entered the world.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed having a student midwife with you during labour, as we really value their contribution to the team in Peterhead and are lucky to have them.

I hope you have a magical Christmas and New Year with your new addition.

Thank you again,

Chloe
