My own dentist referred me to the Glasgow Dental Hospital as I take blood thinners which causes my blood not to clot.
I waited quite a long time from my consultation to my actual appointment, all in all, almost a year.
I understand the pandemic shut the world down for a while, so I wasn't worried about the time frame of the appointments.
At my first appointment I got 6 teeth extracted. Angela was my dentist. She explained everything she was about to do, I was so nervous, I was shaking. I got the injection to numb my mouth, the only 2 that hurt were the very front teeth, the injection that feels like it's going into your nose, really not nice, it was that bad I had to hold the dental assistant's hand.
As I'm on other medication that makes me become very dry, Angela kept putting vaseline on my lips, which I thought was very kind of her.
As I felt the pain I had to get more injected, which made Angela not able to remove the remaining two, I'd have to get another appointment.
I didn't wait long for my return visit.
This time around I had Grant doing my extraction. Again I was so nervous but they put me at ease. Yes it did hurt but it was over in about 30 minutes.
My experience at the dental hospital was better than I thought it would be.
I'd recommend everyone to go there for extractions. Don't stress about anything as they are so professional. Even the aftercare information was good. I did have to contact nhs24, but apart from that it was plain sailing.
"They are so professional"
