I was diagnosed with rectal cancer at the end of May 2024. Right from the beginning my care has been excellent.
Appointments for scans were organised very swiftly and results communicated promptly. A treatment plan was devised and started quickly. All the staff that I came into contact with, from the Colorectal team and the Chemotherapy staff at the Victoria hospital in Kirkcaldy to the radiotherapy staff at the Cancer Centre at the Western General hospital in Edinburgh have been fantastic.
A date was set for surgery (last week) and I'm now at home recovering. I spent four days in hospital and I have had follow up phonecalls from both the Surgeon and the Enhanced Recovery Nurse to see how I'm doing.
I can't fault NHS Fife for the care I've had and especially the speed at which everything happened.
