I had a sigmoidoscopy which can be painful and embarrassing, however staff really put me at ease and were lovely. Someone saw me wondering in the corridor and showed me to the right place. Lovely waiting area with books. I was given lots of time to ask any questions and everything was explained thoroughly in a private room with a lovely person. The consultant came to find me in the waiting area and was very nice. Staff chatted to me throughout the procedure and held and stroked my hand which was really comforting. The consultant explained everything as they were doing it. Afterwards, I had my own toilet and changing room with wipes. Then a lovely, comfy chaired discharge lounge with loads of biscuits and a lovely person who made me a tea. Then a separate room for discharge where I was given lots of time to ask any questions and everything was explained thoroughly. Such a positive experience and miles better than endoscopies I’ve had in a hospital in a different part of the UK. I was made to feel like an individual whose needs were important to all staff throughout my time in The Northern General. Thank you so much!
"Excellent care"
