I had my baby boy early December 2024 in Wishaw General Hospital. This was my first planned section and I cannot thank the staff enough.
Midwives Jen and Sara who looked after me from the very beginning until I was over in the post natal ward could not have been more attentive. They put all my fears at ease, acknowledged my husbands concerns which sometimes get overlooked during the pregnancy journey, and they kept us informed throughout the day letting us know of any emergencies or complications which may delay our surgery.
The theatre staff were equally as kind and attentive, keeping me chatting when I started freaking out before my husband was able to join me. And the anaesthetist talked me through the whole procedure step by step when my anxiety was taking over making me panic, she kept me informed and honestly made me feel so much more at ease with the whole procedure.
When our beautiful boy came into the world and it was time to go to the postnatal ward I was a bit apprehensive as I have seen some negative opinions recently, but I must say they could not be further from the truth. Every single staff member in ward 22 I saw is worth their weight in gold. I cannot thank them enough for helping me navigate the post C-section journey for the first time.
Despite an incredibly busy ward and no doubt being short staffed, I didn’t ever wait too long for my buzzer to be answered and I was always greeted with a smile and some kind words of encouragement and my pain relief was brought to me almost to the exact minute it was due.
In a world where the NHS are getting so much negative press I feel it is important to highlight that every NHS staff throughout my birthing and post natal journey in wards 23 and 22 made it look like a breeze and seemed to really enjoy the job they are in.
Thank you all so much for making this a positive birthing experience for me and my family, and one of the nightshift midwives had delivered my daughter 9 years ago, I remembered her as soon as she came into my room because she has not lost her sparkle.
The only thing that could have been improved was the food.
Thank you all so much, I wish I could name everyone by names but in the newborn haze I can barely remember my own.
"Positive Post Natal experience"
