"All staff have been absolutely amazing and so helpful with me"

About: Outpatients Department / Fracture Clinic University Hospital Hairmyres / Outpatient Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

Hi Good Evening.

I would like to praise some NHS Lanarkshire Staff, specifically the Hairmyres Orthopaedics & Lanarkshire Pyhsio Department

On your website I could find Complaints no bother but couldn't find PRAISE, which is really sad, as there are more good people than bad in my experience.

I broke my wrist in July 2024.  I attended the Orthopaedics Department in Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride for a few months. I have had 2 stookies and a brace. All the staff and my consultant have been absolutely amazing and so helpful with me.

Orthopaedics then referred me to Andrew, Pyhsio Therapist in Udston Hospital, Hamilton.

Andrew has been absolutely amazing and so patient with me over the past few months. As I have been in a lot of pain, while he has been trying to assess me, to see which exercises is needed.

He definitely knows what he is talking about and explains everything that is happening. When I don't understand what he means, he has a gift of speaking to me in a way that I do understand every single step of my journey, which has put my mind at ease and calmed my Anxiety down, as I have been terrified of anyone touching my left wrist or bumping into me.

Andrew referred me back to Orthopaedics Department in Hairmyres Hospital as he wasn't happy with the pain I was still in and some movement in my wrist,  I then attended Orthopaedics mid-December, Orthopaedics have now referred me to a Hand Specialist.

I am now waiting to see what happens next.

All the Orthopaedics Staff & Consultant in Hairmyres have been amazing with me. Also Andrew my Pyhsio has been absolutely star and patient with me.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

Dear Andream305,

Many thanks for taking the time to provide such positive feedback about the Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal (MSK) service specifically your interaction with one of our Physiotherapists Andrew. We highly value the feedback on Care Opinion and will ensure this is passed directly to Andrew. We totally agree that praise should be given and we will discuss how we can better advertise Care Opinion on our own Physio MSK website.

I'm glad to hear that Andrew has demonstrated patience and excellent communication skills which have put you at ease while progressing your rehabilitation.

We wish you all the best on your continued journey and upcoming appointment with the hand specialist.

Regards

Brian Slattery
