"No privacy for rectal examination"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Out-of-Hours

(as a service user),

My husband was asked to attend the Queen Margaret Hospital on Saturday evening at the out of hours service.

We found the staff member we saw hard to understand as they had a heavy accent.

They had to undertake a rectal exam on my husband. I was sitting in the consultation room right across from my husband in the examination room.

They performed a very rough rectal exam, he was evidently in a lot of discomfort as he was making lots of painfilled noises, without giving him privacy at all.

When the exam was finished, the doctor snapped the lights in the room off leaving my husband, half dressed, in a state of partial undress and began to lower the examination table with him in a state of undress.

This gave my husband such a fright and embarrassment.
