I'd been referred by the GP after experiencing bleeding while on HRT which had been ongoing for some time.
I'd had a look on the internet beforehand and had read a few horror stories about how painful it could be, "worse than childbirth", people passing out etc etc.
I have to say, for me anyway, it was nothing of the sort!
I'd been told to take painkillers and hour beforehand so duly popped a few co-codamol and headed up to Hairmyers where the Hysteroscopy was to take place.
The staff were lovely and the doctor explained everything beforehand about what they would do and what might happen etc.
The procedure itself wasn't anymore "painful" than a smear test to be honest, could feel a mild pulling/pushing like sensation at the most and a bit of wetness with the water they use to inflate the womb for a clearer view.
The staff made me feel at ease and we were chatting away and having a laugh during it, the doctor explained what she was doing at each stage and showed me on the screen what they were looking at which I found quite interesting, it's not a area you usually get to see!
They did find a polyp for which I've another appointment to go back for removal but all in all it wasn't an unpleasant experience, the most uncomfortable bit was getting out the chair afterwards as it was all a bit damp! lol
