When I was born I had a weak right eye. And so I have depended on my left eye all of my life. I was offered injections in my right eye. They were painful, but not too bad. Then in November last year I was offered an injection in my left eye. I was very reluctant because it is my good eye and I rely on it. I went to the hospital but I really wasn't sure about it. The nurse reassured me and and said I might lose my sight, so it was best to have the injection. So I had it. I regret it because of the discomfort and pain that I'm still experiencing. I was given a liquid to put in my eye.
When I was offered the injection again I turned it down. And over Christmas I ran out of the liquid I'd been given. It's very painful and is stinging. So I phoned the Ophthalmology Department at Bideford Hospital and spoke to them and asked for help. They said they can't do anything because I have refused the injection they offered. The bottles of liquid will run out. I was very disappointed as up until now I've had very helpful and friendly treatment from this department. But they just said they can't help me. I felt worried about having another injection but also worried about my sight potentially deteriorating and I didn't know what to do.
The next day I decided to make some more calls. A Liaison Officer called me back and said that the Doctors will get together and look at my case. And hopefully they will offer me further care. I'm relieved about this and hope it will help.
"Very disappointed"
