I went in with abdominal pain that had been bothering me for 4 weeks but the last 2 weeks being constant pain. No one was really sure what was wrong with me as my bloods came back normal. But the nurses/doctors persisted at trying to find what was wrong. I stayed for a night and the next day I was assessed again. I stayed 2 nights, the first was to keep an eye on me and the second was recovering from surgery.
The nurses were so kind and welcoming and helped me stay as comfortable as possible in hospital. The nurses/doctors stood up for me and helped me in any way possible. I ended up having an appendectomy and an exploratory laparoscopy. The nurses helped me deal with the pain and sat and spoke me through everything while I was struggling. They were so much help both before and after surgery.
I’m incredibly grateful for all the nurses/doctors that were involved in my care and they all deserve so much more credit than they get. The treatment you get in this ward is amazing and I’m happy that I had such a nice place with such nice people to be in while I was ill. They are an asset to the BGH!
